Plume Films brings the House of Godd to the Winter Gardens

Fancy a free ticket to a live theatre-meets-animation spectacular?

At Eastbourne's very own film studio, Racquet Studios?

Eastbourne's animation studio, Plume Films, has announced three dates for this fantastic Arts Council-funded work about a bumbling ex-cult leader who is forced to bewitch a house of unruly lunatics.

Founder of Plume Films, Richard Jackson said, "We are delighted to bring an alternative live performance to Eastbourne. 'The House of Godd’ combines theatre and digital art and features actors interacting with projections, props and sound design. The story is set in a surreal doll’s house where a chaotic group of misfits are governed by the devious Mr and Mrs Godd."

Filmmaker Chris Lewort, who co-wrote and directed the piece, gave us a summary of the work: "Mr and Mrs Godd are the long-suffering managers of a doll’s house full of unruly residents. Their goal is to create a place of harmony so they can finally retire.

"When Mrs Godd chooses bumbling ex-cult leader ‘Crawley’ as the new occupant, things seem to be going smoothly until Crawley’s ghostly friend ‘Aiwatt’ inexplicably appears. He tells Crawley that he's in grave danger and must make an awful choice; either cast a spell to bewitch the household or be banished to the nether... forever."

The Open Digital Cooperative has set out a vision for all public sector digital services to be accessible, evidence-based and open source, along with a mission to improve the experience of citizens using public sector websites.

It aims to foster digital transformation through collaboration on open-source products and projects, involving the development of a shared pool of code, research and expertise.

All from lil ol' Eastbourne!

Change your mind about offering work experience!

Work experience makes a huge difference in getting students ready for work. We speak about it regularly and, to be honest... you're probably tired of hearing about it if you've already decided why you can/can't offer a placement.

But wait!

We spoke to Mark Likeman, Work Experience Team Leader at East Sussex County Council, who filled us in on some interesting facts that might just change your mind.

Donate your old tech!

Old phones sitting in your cupboards don't do anything. But pass them on to TechResort and you could make a big impact on your local community.

TechResort are rolling out Phone Banks across Eastbourne to collect donations of old phones (or tablets, or laptops) to help people with no devices get online for essential tasks.

You'll find these boxes at Foundry in the Beacon (such as the one above), at the Age Concern Venton Centre, and at Eastbourne Borough Council. So please drop off your old gear!

If your business would welcome a phone bank to collect old devices, let TechResort know.

Should we lock up our leaders forever?! Jail and Bail 2023 is here!

Our very own Joel Fielder from Switchplane will be locked up in the dark, damp basement of Eastbourne's historic Wish Tower... his only hope of freedom lies in raising £1000 in bail money to support St Wilfrid's Hospice's vital work.

Will you help to bail him out so he can get back to creating the custom software he loves?!
