What’s new?

We’ve been growing our article collection, so we’re trying a new format in our newsletter this month. Let us know what you think!

A Chat With: Danny Hazelgrove at Fountain Digital

This month, Chalk spoke to Danny Hazelgrove at Fountain Digital to find out more Danny's career and the digital marketing agency, which specialises in websites and development.

Did you know...

🚑 ...Danny's dream was to become an ambulance driver?

💻 ...Fountain Digital is one of the biggest Webflow agencies in the UK?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 ...they are currently looking for junior web developers?

We discuss all this and more, and Danny shares his advice for people trying to start work in his field.

Spoiler: It’s cheaper to live in Eastbourne

Based on our recent focus group sessions, the team at Chalk have been doing some comparative research on the cost of living in London and Eastbourne.

Salaries with London weighting are a big draw to the capital, which makes it tough for Eastbourne companies to recruit.

But just how much further can your money stretch here on the south coast? How much better can your quality of life be? Well, it seems, quite a lot...

Here's a sample of the data we found:

2022 Apprenticeship Roadshow coming soon

The Transform programme is running two events later this summer to bring together employers, training providers, adult job seekers and young people, providing up-to-date information on traineeships and apprenticeships.

They are looking for apprenticeship training providers, providers with live vacancies, and past apprentices with great stories to share to take part.

The events are on Monday 20th June at White Rock Theatre in Hastings and Wednesday 6th July at The Welcome Centre in Eastbourne.

Providers and employers can book free exhibition stands and find out more by emailing transformroadshow@sctp.org.uk.

One last thing

Following the trend of a cultural shift in Eastbourne and encapsulating the beauty, creativeness and digital aspects of our town, Belle Tout lighthouse has been chosen to be the focus of a new campaign by Hendrick's Gin to promote the launch of its new sea-inspired Neptunia Gin.

Local artist Claire Luxton has created a projection to reimagine the famous lighthouse as "The Siren". She said: “My practice has always had a deep connection to the ocean and nature, with its mystery something I have always been intrigued by. Living in East Sussex, it’s a joy to find such beauty in the raw, unfiltered shorelines that fill me with inspiration."

You can catch the projection on Belle Tout lighthouse from 7pm every day until the end of this month.
